Cookham Festival Comedian Tom Rosenthal wins top award

Tom Rosenthal from King’s College, London has been crowned Paramount Comedy on Tap’s Funniest Student of 2009. Tom is headlining at the Cookham Festival’s Cookham Comedy Club on May 1st at Pinder Hall.

Of all the rising stars that performed on the Paramount night Tom’s talent as a stand-up cast the brightest light, leading him to become the winner of Paramount Comedy On Tap’s 3rd annual Funniest Student final; held at the world famous Comedy Store in London last night, Monday 16th March.

The 20 year-old philosophy student had “great stage presence” according to Off The Kerb Productions’ competition judge Verity Stretton-Downes and was described by Paramount Comedy’s judge Sarah Farrell as “absolutely brilliant.” Fellow judge Robin Ince was similarly impressed by Tom’s act and commended him from telling his “favourite jokes of the night. “

Tom’s set, which was described by Off The Kerb Productions as “very confident, clever and funny”, covered everything from his distain for pointless Facebook to how sex is very much like a theme park ride.

As the Funniest Student winner of 2009, Tom will receive the money-can’t-buy prize of gigs courtesy of Alan Carr and Michael McIntyre’s management Off The Kerb Productions and mentoring and advice from us here at Paramount Comedy.
